A little background: SolidWorks is a 3D CAD (computer aided design) and MCAD (mechanical computer-aided design) application that was first released in 1993. SolidWorks is used in the automotive, aerospace, marine, industrial equipment, and heavy machinery industries for designing products. The latest version of SolidWorks 2015 launched with new improvements to its user interface tools including power surfacing which are applied to surface geometry. These new features allow users to create surfaces more efficiently by cutting down mouse clicks when modeling surfaces on complex models with many facets or faces. Apart from power surfacing, other highlighters include sketching enhancements, unified window management tools and ribbon customization options for commands. This article will cover the system requirements for power surfacing in SolidWorks 2015. The power surfacing application will be used to create the power-surfaced model of a flat iron shaped object. The system requirements listed below are for SolidWorks 2015 SP2 version. Other versions may vary depending on the features included.Note: For Windows 7/8 users, please note that after installing SolidWorks 2015, changing back to "System Default" will disable your display quality settings due to SolidWorks' switch from OpenGL 2 to OpenGL 3 rendering path change. The main window window size and position may vary depending on your computer screen resolution set-up. The system requirements listed above are for SolidWorks 2015 SP2 version. Other versions may vary depending on the features included. The software can be installed in English, French, German and Japanese languages. The following table lists the system requirements to run the installation program: The operating systems (OS) supported by SolidWorks 2015:All hardware and software listed above must meet certain system requirements to operate properly with SolidWorks 2015. One can be sure that if their computer meets these specifications they will be able to run the software with no problem within its specified RAM and processor speed range. Note:To install the software, double-click on the installation file. The interface shown below will appear in which you can continue or exit the installation program. If you click "Continue", the installation process will begin. The following interface will appear in which you can select your installation options. If you click "Customize Installation", you will be able to choose additional software to install along with SolidWorks 2015 similar to Windows's optional features in Control Panel. Starting with SolidWorks 2014, all 3D modeling tools are installed by default when one installs SolidWorks for the first time on their computer. This includes SW2013 and 2012 versions of 3D modeling tool packages e.g. "SolidWorks", "SolidWorks Premium", "Mechanical Desktop", etc. You are able to uninstall these versions by either using SolidWorks' drop-down menu at the top of your SolidWorks window or by using Windows 9x/ME/2000/XP's Add/Remove Programs utility. Select "Continue" on the interface shown above. The following interface will appear which allows you to continue on with the installation process. Note: If you are installing SolidWorks on a network server, you may want to select "Customize Features". This will allow you to select which features are installed on your network or local hard drive for more efficient use of your company's bandwidth. cfa1e77820
